Gov. Haley, Sens. Scott and Graham, show 'appreciation' for military with energy positions, says local veteran leader

There are more than 400,000 veterans living in South Carolina, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and many of them will be marking May as "Military Appreciation Month."

William L. Schachte, Real Admiral U.S. Navy (ret)., the volunteer chair of South Carolina Vets4Energy, says that one way we can show appreciation for our military is by advocating for policies that boost domestic energy production.

“You want to show appreciation for our military?” asked Schachte. “Thank our South Carolina governor and U.S. Senators for their support of domestic energy production, and trying to get the Atlantic included in our next 5-year plan. And urge your friends and family in other states to tell their politicians to get off the dime regarding North American energy.”

Schachte noted that SC Governor Nikki Haley is a member of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Governors Coalition, advocating for safe oil and gas production in the Atlantic OCS, located off the shores of mid-Atlantic states, including South Carolina.
